We are delighted to share some wonderful news from our Grove Place retirement village, where one of our cherished residents, Celia Pickworth, has been nominated for the prestigious Great Neighbour Award at this year’s BBC Radio Solent Make a Difference Awards.

Celia’s nomination is a testament to the warmth and generosity that she brings to our community every day. Upon hearing the news, a truly humbling and delightful surprise for her, Celia expressed how honoured she felt to be recognised in this way. The nomination was put forward by her neighbour, Beryl, who wished to express her gratitude for Celia’s kindness when she first moved into the village. Celia was there to offer her assistance, ensuring Beryl felt welcomed and supported from the very start.

This act of compassion is just one example of the incredible spirit Celia embodies. She is a pillar of our community, working tirelessly to organise engaging events and arrange volunteers, all with a shared goal of tackling isolation and loneliness. Her dedication helps to foster the vibrant and supportive atmosphere that makes Grove Place a truly special place to call home.

The Great Neighbour Award celebrates individuals who make their community a better place through their regular kindness or a single act of compassion. We believe there is no one more deserving of this recognition than Celia.

The finalists have been selected by a distinguished panel of judges, and we eagerly await the awards ceremony, which will take place in September. Everyone at LifeCare Residences wishes Celia the very best of luck.
