At Grove Place, the arrival of spring is always met with a flurry of activity in our kitchen garden allotments. Our resident gardeners are extremely dedicated, spending hours nurturing everything from heritage tomatoes to sweet peas. However, gardening in such a picturesque, rural setting often comes with a gentle challenge: the local deer population, who are equally fond of our blossoming produce.
To ensure our residents’ hard work is protected, we are pleased to announce the installation of a bespoke protective frame around the allotment beds, providing a secure barrier against curious paws and hungry visitors.
The new frames act as a fantastic shield, allowing sunlight and rain to reach the soil while ensuring that the “fruits of our labour” remain exclusively for our residents and the village kitchen.
General Manager, Nicolae Seulean, shared his enthusiasm for the project:
“Our kitchen gardens are a unique addition to the community here at Grove Place. Seeing the passion our residents have for cultivation is inspiring, and it was important to us that their efforts were properly safeguarded. This new protective framing offers the reassurance our avid gardeners deserve, ensuring that the only thing ‘sampling’ the harvest this year will be our residents at the dinner table.”
With the deer now safely kept at bay, the allotments are set for their most bountiful season yet. We look forward to seeing the vibrant colours and tasting the fresh flavours that this protected sanctuary will surely produce.
